This guide will take you through the steps to record yourself presenting a PowerPoint to then share with staff and students in Microsoft Stream.
Start PowerPoint recording
Open the PowerPoint you would like to record and select the Slide Show tab.
To start recording your PowerPoint select ‘Record Slide Show’

Once you have selected Record Slide Show, you will be presented with the following screen. The options on screen are numbered to allow for the explanation below.

- Use these controls to start and stop recording your presentation
- If you are using a touch screen device you can annotate over your PowerPoint during your recording
- Turn on/off your Microphone or Webcam. When your camera is on, you will see an image of yourself in the bottom right corner (see example below), this will be included in the recording

Once you have finished recording your presentation select stop and then click on the X to close the window.
Save your PowerPoint as a video file
Now that you have recorded your presentation you are now ready to save the presentation as a video file to upload into Stream.
Select file and then Save as or Save a copy
Browse to the location you would like to save the video and change ‘Save as type’ to MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)

Recording tab in Office Pro Plus
If you are using Office Pro Plus, use the recording tab to upload your video directly from PowerPoint.
To enable the Recording tab in PowerPoint, select File and then Options
Now select Customize Ribbon and tick Recording. Once this has been selected click OK.

You will now see a recording tab appear in PowerPoint which allows you to upload your recorded presentation directly to Stream.

Publish to Stream from the recording tab
Once you are ready to publish your presentation to Stream select ‘Publish to Stream’.
You will now be prompted to add a title and description. You are also able to upload the PowerPoint file as a resource to accompany the video.

Once you are ready click Publish.
The PowerPoint will now be converted into a video and then uploaded to Stream.
